La NBA ha dado a conocer la lista completa de jugadores universitarios de la NCAA y de jugadores internacionales que se han declarado elegibles antes de tiempo, sin haber cumplido aún la edad máxima, para el Draft 2016. Hay 162 jugadores, de los cuales 45 proceden del baloncesto internacional.
Los jugadores universitarios están encabezados por los 2 favoritos para ser seleccionados en primera posición: Ben Simmons (LSU) y Brandon Ingram (Duke). En ese grupo también están dos extranjeros destacados de la NCAA como son Jakob Poeltl (Utah) y Domantas Sabonis (Gonzaga).
En cuanto a la lista de baloncestistas que juegan fuera de Estados Unidos, la encabezan el croata Dragan Bender y el turco Furkan Korkmaz. Y en ella hay 8 jugadores que juegan en España: Juancho Hernangómez, Ilimane Diop, Rolands Smits, Alexander Vezenkov, Emir Sulejmanovic, Jordan Sakho, Romaric Belemene y Ludvig Hakanson.
